After Turkey, Paint At STP!

IMG_6935The next fabulous “Arty Party” with local artist Randy Krause is the day after Thanksgiving! Randy is a regular instructor at The Soo Theatre Project all year and she conducts several summer camps as well. With Randy’s sweet, kind manner, it is no wonder her classes are popular.

An “Arty Party” is your opportunity to gain Randy’s personal attention while you paint a nature scene (see attached picture) with her stepping you through the painting process highlighting painting techniques.

By the evening’s end, you will have created your acrylic on canvas masterpiece to take home. Randy provides all the supplies including the aprons, easels, brushes, towels, and paints. You just call to register your spot (limit of 10 painters), show up at 6:45 pm, and follow Randy’s guidance to bring out the artist within you!

The last “Arty Party” was so well received and fun that the next one, this Friday, November 28 at 7 pm, was immediately scheduled. This class will take place at The Soo Theatre Project’s beautiful Studio C.

Also happening is The Soo Theatre Project’s Annual Holiday Tour of Homes on Sunday, December 14 from 1-5 pm. This had been the EUP Red Cross fundraiser for many years until the EUP Red Cross office left the area. Then, the Soo Theatre Project carried on the tradition of the home tour and tea reception!

For 25 years, many homes have been highlighted, decorated, accentuated with holiday flowers from Petals on Ashmun and Coed Flowers and Gifts, and opened for exploring to ticket holders. When The Soo Theatre Project began this annual event, it added a variety of talented musicians for holiday entertainment at the tea reception, which will be held this year at The River of History Museum on Ashmun Street. There will be plentiful baked goods, coffee, tea, live music, a silent auction, drawings for door prizes, and a free museum tour. (Parking is available in the back.)

This year’s home list includes: Caroline Behling’s home – 1836 South Monocle Lake Drive, Christine and Steven Kois’ home – 1804 South Monocle Lake Drive, Danny Sarns and Jeremy Ripley’s home – 813 Young Street, Theresa and Brent Kallstrom’s home – 325 East Spruce Street, and Tina and Ryan Kilzmiller’s home – 7799 South Mackinac Trail. Look for and read the descriptions of these wonderful homes in The Soo Evening News each day from Monday, December 8 to Friday, December 12.

The 2014 Annual Holiday Tour of Homes is a delightful Sault Sainte Marie holiday tradition. Tickets will be available for purchase at the STP office after December 3.

Don’t forget another Sault Sainte Marie tradition: The annual holiday Lake State Christmas Program. Get into the holiday spirit even more on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 7:30 pm at LSSU’s Fine Arts Center by enjoying performers from the LSSU chorus, The Soo Theatre Project’s STARS orchestras, and members of LSSU’s faculty.

There’s always something for everyone at The Soo Theatre Project all year long. Visit: 534 Ashmun Street. Call: (906) 635-1930. Look: www.sootheatre.org
