Aladdin Jr. Auditions Saturday, February 9th, 9am-5pm!

The Disney classic, Aladdin Jr., is coming to the historic Soo Theatre Project, April 11-14th.

Disney’s Aladdin JR. is based on the 1992 Academy-Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes appears. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character. This Junior adaptation has expanded characters, new songs, and more thrills! Opening “a whole new world” for every family.

Auditions, Saturday, February 9th,  will begin at 9am and run through 5pm. We will be scheduling each applicant for a specific one hour block. You will have a solo spot in the first half hour if you would like to be considered for a lead. After all of the solos are heard, you will come back as a group to do movement and some possible line reading.

Auditions will be be held for all leads and ensemble roles. Solos may be distributed within the ensemble as well and would not require a solo audition.

All applicants should submit their materials online to audition for the show. Only those who wish to try for a lead of any age are required to prepare a solo.

Solos should be one minute long.  One verse of a Disney or Disney type song would be best. No pop songs will be accepted other than a Broadway style pop that would suit the Aladdin show. A song from the show is not required. However, you may be asked to sing a quick part of a song from Aladdin for the character you have in mind.

So be prepared!

Callbacks will be made the same day. You may be asked to come back later in the day to read more for a part or sing a specific song. You will provide on your application form the best way to contact you to come back in for a reading. The production team will notify you as soon as they know they would like to hear you again.

Not getting a callback does not mean you are not cast. Callbacks will be used only if necessary for a variety of reasons. Often we will call back just a few of the roles, while other casting has already been decided.

We will send a group notification when all casting is complete and callbacks have been made so you don’t wait unnecessarily for a call.

Please go online at www.sootheatre.org for more details about casting our next Broadway Jr. show. We can’t wait! Or check out the Aladdin page on Facebook!
