Aladdin Jr. coming April 11-14th!

This is Soo Youth Theatre’s fifth year of producing junior musicals. We started in 2014 with Annie Jr., 2015 with Beauty and the Beast Jr., 2016 with Little Mermaid Jr., and last year with Lion King Jr. Each year brings such amazingly talented young people that get to gain new theater resources. Each winter, auditions are held, roles are cast and a rigorous rehearsal schedule is set in place. Under the direction of Karen Beacom, the Soo Youth Theatre transforms our historic stage into a Disney showcase! It’s amazing to see what happens in a matter of a number of short weeks! Mark your calendars now to save the date.

The Disney classic, Aladdin Jr., is coming to the historic Soo Theatre Project, April 11-14th.

Disney’s Aladdin Jr. is based on the 1992 Academy-Award®-winning film and the 2014 hit Broadway show about the “diamond in the rough” street rat who learns that his true worth lies deep within. Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the Genie who has the power to grant three wishes appears. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character. This Junior adaptation has expanded characters, new songs, and more thrills! Opening “a whole new world” for every family.

This junior production will feature Eastern Upper Peninsula community members ranging in ages 8-18 and also utilize many parent and community volunteers.
