“Grease” opens this week at Soo Theatre!

“Summer Lovin’!”  “Born to Hand Jive!” “ Greased Lightning.” These hits and more from the popular musical “Grease” will be performed live at the Soo Theatre’s summer musical running from July 12-15, 2018.

This cast of seasoned veterans, as well as many new young talents, has a great show prepared for you. Directed by Karen Hughes Beacom with dance direction by Deborah Choszczyk, “Grease” is sure to set your toes a tapping and send you out singing your favorite tunes from the show.

Says the director, “I have never seen a cast work so hard or come together in the way this cast has over these past two months. This is an ensemble show and the roles of the lead characters appear most often together throughout “Grease.” Since they began rehearsing their big ten scenes together they have been able to build a strong bond which, will come across throughout the show!”

She continues, “It’s been a team effort throughout this whole process; as one group is rehearsing on stage, another group would be found working on dance moves and rehearsing scenes in the studios. They even moved a rehearsal to the park down the street from the Soo Theatre when the stage was in use for set building and painting. They are so excited about this production and it will surely show on stage with their spirited and dedicated performances! The dancing alone is enough of a reason to come the show!”

If you haven’t yet been to a Soo Theatre production, this is one to see!  It will be full of spirit and summer lovin’ and dreamin’!

Local radio personalities, Tim Ellis and Mark San Angelo, will be making appearances as well, in the role of Vince Fontaine.

After the show on Friday, July 13, Soo Theatre will host a sock hop after their performance, with dance lessons from the cast, photos with celebrity cars, and more. Wear your 1950’s clothing and be transported back to the 50’s with music, dancing, and poodle skirts.

There will be many photo opportunities each performance. 50’s cars will be on the scene before and after each performance for picture taking and fun. 50s costume pieces will be available on site.

Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, July 12, 13, and 14 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, July 15 at 3:00 pm. Adult tickets are $20.00 and students are $10.00.
