My introduction to watercolors came at an evening enrichment course with Helga Flowers at Sault High School. I loved it, and from that point on I took every painting class I could find. My teachers included Pat Norton, Gordon McKenzie, and Zolton Szabo. Each one of these artists has achieved international fame. We’re very fortunate to have so many world-class artists nearby who are willing to share their knowledge.

I began teaching watercolor and oil painting 30 years ago. I found that I loved helping people discover their talents. More recently, I was invited to teach a group of children at the Soo Theater Project through the STARS program. What joy! Since then, I have been teaching children at a Pickford after-school program, the PAL center, at STARS, and even at birthday parties, my “Arty Parties,” at the Art Store.

Forever unable to settle on one medium, I paint with watercolors, oils, acrylics, and pastels. My work can be seen in many local stores and restaurants. I enjoy painting murals, sets for the productions at the Soo Theater Project, consignments, and, more recently, restoration and decorative painting on furniture.

I’ve established an art group of adults with special needs that has been ongoing for almost 10 years.
I consider myself an artist, a teacher, and an advocate for everyone who would like to explore their abilities. My classes are low key, offering opportunities to learn techniques and practices that provide skills helpful to developing a lifelong source of enjoyment.
