Tour of Homes and Tea

Each December, the Soo Theatre hosts the annual Tour of Homes & Tea.  The tour features a number of beautiful homes in the Sault Ste. Marie area from 1-4pm on Sunday, December 16, followed by the Tea at Central United Methodist Church from 2-5pm.

The homes included in this year’s tour are Brenda Strack, Heather and Dave Atkinson, Justin Knepper, Julia and Brian Staley. The Strack home is located on Cedar Street, the Atkinson home is located in the Radar Road subdivision, Harwood Road, the Knepper home is found on Peck Street, close to our lively downtown, and the Staley Boathouse is on Riverside Drive, peacefully found along the St. Mary’s River.

You will not want to miss this tour. The homes on our 2018 tour have all been renovated by the homeowners. Each home has a story and the homeowners have helped rewrite them. They have created new homes from their own visions and what they have always wanted in their forever home. Some have restored their homes as close to the original as possible, having baseboards matched by local businesses, finding old radiators, and keeping the original windows. Some have used their own creative devices to make something completely unique, placing one-a-kind pieces throughout their homes on the ceilings, kitchen entrances, and refurbishing furniture remnants to make beautiful new pieces.

The same day, Sunday, December 16th from 2-5pm at Central United Methodist, 111 East Spruce Street, is the Tour of Homes Tea. The tea is an event in itself! Tea, cocoa, scrumptious cookies, and delicacies will tempt you but that’s only the start. Soo Theatre instructors and students will entertain with piano, voice, and stringed instruments. In addition, there is a silent auction you won’t want to miss! Items in the silent auction include homemade bookends, a hand sewn Christmas stocking, handmade holiday wreath, body work gift certificates, Patagonia accessories, Les Cheneaux Distillers gift certificate, and much more. Look for more detailed information about each home featured in the Sault News the week of the Tour. Each home will be highlighted daily the week of the Tour, to give you an idea of what you will not want to miss!
