It’s time for The Soo Theatre Holiday Tour of Homes and Tea 2013! (See poster)
Once again, The Soo Theatre Project has assembled five beautiful homes, which will be professionally decorated with floral designs by business partners Petals on Ashmun and Co-Ed Flowers. The homes will be open for your viewing on Sunday, December 15, 2013 beginning at 1:00pm. Tickets ($18) will be available at The Soo Theatre Project’s office shortly.
Just imagine this once-a-year holiday event: driving with friends or family to and from the five delightfully decorated homes, enjoying the exploration in each home, gathering decor ideas, and participating in the culminating holiday tea at The Crow’s Nest on the LSSU campus complete with musical entertainment, delicious food, door prizes, and a very popular silent auction. It’s a wonderful event, indeed!
The 2013 Soo Theatre Holiday Home Tour and Tea includes the following homes: the Sawruk’s home on Riverside Drive, the Levine’s home also on Riverside Drive, the Bigelow’s home on Lakeshore Drive, the Brow’s home on West 20th Street, and President and Mrs. McLain’s home on the LSSU campus. Stay tuned for future articles with more details regarding these fabulous residences.
After perusing the five beautiful homes, proceed to the tea at the LSSU Crow’s Nest beginning at 2 o’clock. This holiday experience includes coffee and tea, seasonal cookies as well as a wide variety of other delicious baked goods, door prizes, a silent auction event, and musical entertainment by various Soo Theatre Project groups. One such performing group will be The Flute Choir, co-directed by Maureen Delaney-Lehman and Sarah Morrison. Originally initiated by accomplished flutist Meg Stevens, this group performs for many Soo Theatre events as well as for many LSSU programs. (Side note: The group consists of five core members, but is always looking for more flutists with at least high school experience. Contact The Soo Theatre Project office if you’d like to join this unique choir at 906-632-1930.)
Also performing at the tea will be The New Horizons String Ensemble, which is comprised of eleven adult members. During part of the performance, these eleven musicians will be joined by six of the newest New Horizons Strings Ensemble members, who joined the group this fall. (Side note: The New Horizons is an international association of adult musicians, who have either begun to play as adults or who played as children, stopped for 20+ years, and now enjoy playing once more.)
The entire Soo Theatre Holiday Home Tour and Tea experience includes many parts, which produces a remarkable yearly tradition creating precious holiday memories for all. Make plans to join us this season on Sunday, December 15, 2013 from 1:00 to 5:00 for an exquisite holiday experience.
