It’s here! The holiday season is in full swing now that the Thanksgiving holiday is done: the gathering, shopping, preparing, and celebrating. Enjoy the holiday experience!
The Soo Theatre Project can assist you with several of these holiday “to do’s” as it has been planning several wonderful, feel-good holiday events including The Lake State Christmas Program Saturday, December 6 at 7:30 pm and The Holiday Tour of Homes Sunday, December 14 from 1-5 pm.
The Lake State Christmas Program is a production by LSSU students and faculty, but it also integrates community music resources such as the The Soo Theatre Project’s STARS Youth Orchestra. Together the groups create a beautiful holiday experience for all.
Enjoy singing? The Lake State Christmas Program on Saturday, December 6 beginning at 7:30 pm in the LSSU Fine Arts Center will feature a carol sing as well as a sing-a-long with the Hallelujah Chorus! Admission is by donation.
Every year, The Soo Theatre Project finds lovely homes for the curious to explore from 1-4 pm and completes the experience with a stylish tea reception afterward from 2-5 pm. Beginning to end, STP creates an annual event not to miss. It’s been a holiday tradition for 25 years!
The homeowners graciously open their homes, which have been decorated with holiday themed floral arrangements from Coed Flowers and Gifts and Petals on Ashmun. Tickets for this event are available at the STP office on Ashmun Street and at The Mole Hole on after December 3 and are required for entry at all homes and the tea reception at The River of History Museum on Ashmun Street.
Musicians, vocalists, coffee, tea, holiday baked goods, as well as a silent auction, drawings for door prizes, and a free museum pass are all part of the lovely Holiday Tour of Homes reception. Parking is available in the rear.
Do you or someone on your Christmas list want to learn dance, draw, paint, sing, or play an instrument? STP conducts classes all year long! Give the gift that will continue for the rest of your someone special’s life.
Opportunities for ages 2 ½ years old and up include: drawing, painting, pre-ballet, intro to tap, modern dance, classical ballet, pre-pointe and pointe ballet, “First Steps In Music,” jazz, beginning orchestra, youth orchestra, “New Horizons Orchestra,” piano, voice, violin, viola, fiddle, cello, and flute.
What begins as a Soo Theatre Project class, lesson, or event may bloom into a beautiful life passion. “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” Pablo Picasso
