With all the extraordinary local talent, why would The Soo Theatre Project bring in outside talent? For example, Dance Camp 2013, beginning August 19-22, will be conducted by Artistic Director Gregory George from The Children’s Ballet Theatre of Michigan in Lansing.

Breadth. Expansiveness. Range. Scope. Comprehensiveness. Depth. These are the reasons for bringing in outside talent, which benefits those who enroll in The Soo Theatre Project’s already top-notch classes and camps. Everyone has different ways to present, new techniques to share, and unique styles to offer so bringing in talent from other areas develops our students locally.

Gregory George has a long list of accolades as his career has spanned nearly five decades beginning when he was eight years old. While a teen, Mr. George trained at the college level and became a professional dancer by age sixteen. He studied with a full scholarship at the Ruth Page Foundation Chicago Ballet School. His career continued with multiple opportunities including travel throughout the United States while on tour with the Ohio Ballet in Akron. An international dancer as well, he participated in the well-known Spoleto Festival in Italy. Needless to say, Gregory George has vast experience including plays, fashion shows, and TV commercials, too. (For his complete biography, please click here.)

So Dance Camp 2013 is quite the opportunity for the dancers of the Eastern Upper Peninsula! Also, an unannounced guest teacher is expected to be present for this camp as well. Interested dancers should have at least one year of ballet training. Participants will perform with The Children’s Ballet of Michigan touring troupe on Thursday, August 22 at 7:30 pm. Two wonderful opportunities for the price of one!
