Soo Theatre Benefit Concert Tonight!

Daller and Speer, the Caba-Rock piano and singing duo, will appear tonight in a special concert to aid in the Soo Theatre’s fire recovery. Doug Daller and John Speer will be performing the great standards of Rock-n-Roll at Central Methodist Church at 111 E Spruce Street.

Opening for this great act will be local barbershop quartet, Notorious, at 7:30pm. Tickets will be available at the door and funds for this concert will go to help the Soo Theatre continue its mission of the restoration of this historic downtown theater. Clean-up from the recent fire is underway. All proceeds raised beyond the amount needed to recover from the recent fire will go directly to the Raise the Roof campaign to continue the great progress made on the theater building this summer and early fall.

The Soo Theatre Project and LSSU have joined forces once again to present “A Laker Christmas” on Friday, December 8 at 7pm in the Arts Center at Lake Superior State University.

The evening will be filled with the sounds of the season from pre-concert music provided by Stars Flute Choir and the LSSU Chorus. Soo Theatre Beginning Orchestras will provide prelude music on the stage at 6:30pm.

The concert will begin at 7pm with “Christmas on Broadway” performed by the LSSU Band and Chorus. The Soo Theatre Youth Orchestras, New Horizons Strings, Soo Cello Crew & Cantus Celli will be among the featured performing groups of the evening.

The concert is conceived and directed by Karen Hughes Beacom and Dottie Case with Maggie Twining. Admission is by donation.

The Annual Tour of Homes and Tea will take place on Sunday, December 10. Tours of the featured homes are open from 1pm-4pm with tea service, musical entertainment and a silent auction taking place from 2pm-5pm at Faith Lutheran Church.

Featured on this year’s tour are the homes of Ed and Ginny Johnson, Judy and Randy McGahey, Jackie and Rob Landis, and Kris And Dan Thorne. The Soo Theatre Arts Resource Studios will also be on display during this year’s tour.
