After the tremendous success (and thrill and scare!) of the annual Haunted Theatre last weekend, it’s time for different type of arts experience this coming Friday night at the Soo Theatre: square dancing!
This no-prior-experience-necessary and incredibly-fun-dance will be led by Ken Miller, a professional square dance caller. Ken, who is currently the Executive Director of The Soo Theatre Project, will be doing all the work on this special evening because the dancers just need to follow his directions, or calls! Ken previously served as the Director of Bayliss Public Library and later the Superior District Library.
Miller began square dance calling when he was eighteen years old. He continued calling nearly fifty shows per season for thirty plus years in the Detroit area.
It is being held on November 4th at 7pm at Northern Life Studios. Dancers need no experience and do not need a partner to participate and have fun. $10 per person or $15 per couple. Students may attend for $5. Come and experience what all the hype is about square dancing!
STP has movies on the big screen! The Soo Film Festival organization will be showing more movies again! Future movies include “The Martian” and “Wall-E for the weekend of November 4 and 5, “Captain America: Civil War” and “Jungle Book” – the 2016 version for Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12, and “Mary Poppins” and “Thelma and Louise” for the weekend of November 18 and 19. Movies will continue as long as the weather holds out. Movie times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and with a Saturday matinee at 2:00pm. Stay tuned for possible additions to the movie lineup.
Of course, The Soo Theatre Project has lessons and classes of all types every week. What’s your interest? Dance, music, voice, instruments, or art? If you want to learn it, we have teachers who teach it! This is why it’s been said…
