Aladdin Jr. has been CAST at Soo Theatre Project!

The Soo Theatre Project is pleased to announce that Aladdin Jr. has been cast! Cast members for the annual spring musical are ages 8-18 and range from Soo Youth Theatre veterans to new actors from the Sault and the surrounding area. We are so excited to share with you the following cast!

Faith Nayback, veteran youth theater member (Hansel, Zazu, Sebastian, Cogsworth) will play the role of Genie. In the junior production, Genie is the backbone of the cast, with a lot of dynamism required that Nayback brings to all of her roles. Riley Wilson, another Soo Theatre veteran will bring us the beloved title role of Aladdin. Wilson was most recently scene as Doody in Grease last summer at STP. Lauren Anderson from Sault Ste. Marie will play Jasmine. Anderson was one of the Lionesses in the Lion King and brings a fresh and exciting energy to her role as the princess. Turner Callaghan will play Jafar with Miranda Allen as his sidekick Iago and Zack Garlock plays the Sultan.

The fearsome foursome of Babkak, Omar, Aladdin and Kassim brings a comedy and dynamic to the stage version that is over-the-top entertaining. Our comedy troupe that was last seen on our stage in Grease include David Weber as Babkak, Samuel Cox as Omar, and Emma Mansfield as Kassim, along with their pal, Aladdin.

The lovely ladies of Jasmine’s palace will be played by Emily Kars as Isir, Sydney Kuenzer as Manal, and Miranda Schomberg as Rajah. Other featured performers include Anna Kowalski as the Magic Carpet, Jacob Smith as Spooky Voice, Eugene Gregg as Cave of Wonders, Randi Bumstead as Razoul, and Theresa McCready as Prince Abdullah.

The Entourage of Prince Abdullah is headed by Danielle Forsythe and Ariana Atkinson, Guards are played by Tessa Woolever, Joseph Richard, and Lane Cozort in addition to John Kowalski, Jack Callaghan and Quinn Woolever.

The following ensemble members play the characters listed in addition to other ensemble numbers on the show. The opening Beggars are played by Abbey Bjunes and Olivia Martin, Apple Vendor by Carrie Gregg. Fortune Tellers by Sara Russell and Dee Compton, Shop Owner by Mattie Goff, and Vagrant/Entourage by Anna Collins and Ella McKerchie.

Eleanor Barbour, Carissa Brown, Ellah Deeghan, Clara Gregg, Isadora Johnson, Malia LeFebre, Madeline Longson, Taylor Ogston, Erin Pendygraft, Abigail Pruitt, Emily Pruitt, Haley Pruitt, Ella Smith, Isabella Stratton, Tiffeney Stratton, Mallory Vert, Evelyn Weber, and Mia Woolever all play Citizens of Agrabah.

The following members of Aladdin’s Dance Ensemble and additional citizens of Agrabah include Iyla Beaulieu, Lucia Guevara, Myah McDonald, Taylor Meilstrup, Fairyn Novak, and Chloe Shier. The Little Dance Ensemble includes Kelsie Allen, Grace Kowalski, Lucy Kranendonk, Natalie Smith, Evelyn Whitworth, and Jada Wilson.

Mark your calendars today for this family fun show April 11-14th at the historic Soo Theatre Project. Shows will run at 7pm on Thursday and Friday and at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. Two matinees to choose from. Bring the whole family. Aladdin Jr. is led by director Karen Hughes Beacom, along with assistant director, Elizabeth Curtis and stage manager, Kristin Flickinger.
