Soo Theatre Welcomes New Teachers!

This Fall the Soo Theatre Project welcomes new lessons, classes, and teachers.  New classes include Gentle Yoga and Yoga Flow, Art for Elementary Students and Figure Drawing for Adults, and new private lesson teachers. Elizabeth Burrows, Lee Carlson, Lisa Justin, and Heather Laurence are all joining the teaching staff at the historic Soo Theatre.

PIANO

Two new piano teachers join our lineup this fall. One right at the Soo Theatre and the other in Pickford.

Lisa Justin will be teaching private piano lessons at the Soo Theatre starting mid-October.  Lisa is a born yooper, although she grew up in Manistee, Michigan.  She received her Bachelor of Music Education from Michigan State University.  She taught elementary music for the Menominee Area Public Schools, Rudyard Area Schools, and most recently, the Sault Area Public Schools.  While in the Sault schools (the last 13 years), she taught primarily middle and high school vocal music, with a foray back into elementary during the last 2 years.  Lisa retired this last spring but is looking forward to staying involved with musical activities throughout the area and Soo Theatre. Lisa is currently accepting new piano students.  Call the office to schedule lessons.

Elizabeth Burrows will be teaching piano and percussion for the Soo Theatre from her studio in Pickford, MI.  This will help us to serve students in Pickford who are unable to travel to the Soo on a weekly basis.  Elizabeth is a 2002 graduate of Hillsdale College with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. She also holds a Masters of Music Education from VanderCook College of Music.  Elizabeth’s primary instrument was percussion and her secondary instrument was piano. Elizabeth has been involved in various pit orchestras for our summer productions on piano and percussion.  She currently teaches general music in Cedarville and prior to that was the band and music teacher in Brimley for 12 years. Elizabeth is accepting percussion and piano students in Pickford. Call the office for more information.
