Next Sunday: The Soo Theatre Holiday Tour of Homes and Tea!

By Lizabeth Jenkins-Dale

Holiday traditions create memories. Trimming the tree, singing carols, dining with family, and attending certain events are all part of holiday traditions. If you haven’t yet, as many of you already do, I highly suggest adding this annual event to your holiday traditions: The Soo Theatre Holiday Tour of Homes and Tea. (See poster)

Here’s a preview of what you’ll experience: five fantastic homes to leisurely peruse, which are professionally decorated with holiday floral designs by Petals on Ashmun and Co-Ed Flowers, and a festive holiday tea complete with live musicians, coffee, tea, bountiful delicious baked goods, door prizes, and a very popular silent auction. The Soo Theatre Holiday Tour of Homes and Tea is so much more than I can describe in this article. Experience it for yourself!

Snippets of each home:

The Brow’s House at 2754 W. 20th Street: a house that was “love at first sight” for realtor Brenda Brow. With husband, Dean, they’ve made many updates, changes, and improvements throughout the house. It is a colorful delight to see! (Look for details on Monday)

The Sawruk’s House at 3531 S. Riverside Drive: a beautiful two story home on the water with plenty of remarkable views of the St. Mary’s River, local art, family wood crafting, and holiday décor to greet you from the very beginning of this home tour. (Look for details on Tuesday)

The Bigelow’s House at 3201 Lakeshore Drive: an artist’s dream house residing one street from the St. Mary’s River with a gorgeous sun room and an artist’s workshop in the natural and landscaped backyard. (Look for details on Wednesday)

The Levine’s House at 4870 S. Riverside Drive: a home surrounded by nature with stonework on the outside and inside as well as a wrap around deck that creates a “tree house” effect for its owners. (Look for details on Thursday)

The McLain’s LSSU President’s House at 803 N. Campus Court: a home built in 1892 initially serving as the commanding officer’s residence with all the charm (three fireplaces), design (gorgeous view of the Soo Locks and Canadian mountains), and luxurious feel (living room, dining room, and a parlor) you’d expect from a period structure. (Look for details on Friday)

All homes will be highlighted this week in the newspaper with full descriptions – one each day. But, the best way to experience these homes is inside of them.
